Balkis Awan is a Johnstown, Pennsylvania native. She graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2018, pursuing a career in public policy thereafter. Balkis then worked in the California Legislature focusing on criminal justice policy, where her interest in the legal system’s effect on family dynamics was born.

Balkis was admitted into the Pennsylvania State Bar in October of 2023 and has been an associate at the Darbouze Law Group ever since. She’s eager to start her career in family law in Western Pennsylvania, where her family’s history in the United States began.
